A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having.

It’s surprisingly easy to study something so much that you are immune to all but its seemingly many vulgarities.

This photo and my current circumstances have me aching longingly for spring weather. April is my best month, I think. I want a thin body & soft t-shirts & perpetually clean, wavy, smooth hair.
& I am so lucky to have you.

Chaim Potok’s writing leaves me so very contemplative. His writing is so direct & simple, yet filled with such depth. I have never encountered better character development. These books make me strive for a sense of purpose, & they also makes me wish I was born Jewish. Actually, I’ve been thinking about Judaism a lot lately. I wish I could adopt a Jewish family… since I know my mother would never leave Catholocism.
In any case… another thing that stirs me mentally is the thought of gender roles. I know it’s a very tired subject, but I’m unable to reach a perfectly firm opinion about it. The view of traditional gender roles, of women being suited toward certain activities and men being suited toward others, is seen as old-fashioned & outdated, but I must disagree with the opinion that it is these things. There are, however, better and more modern ways of looking at gender roles. I think it would be fair to say that most women are suited more appropriately for certain things than men, but these are not necessarily confined to traditionally held occupations such as secretarial work, stay-at-home mother, etc., and likewise for so-called male-dominated occupations such as business & law work.
I’d like to expand my thoughts on this subject, because I don’t think the above paragraph gives an accurate summary of my viewpoint (or perhaps lackthereof…). A key part to what I think, however, is that men & women are not necessarily meant to be equal, not in the sense that many “traditional feminists” or whatever may view the word. They are quite dissimilar, with many different facets specific to each sex.
I think the fact that I cannot limit my opinion on this subject & many others is that I try so hard to be open-minded, & the supposed open-mindedness really just assists my mind as it encroaches into the realm of indecision.

My favorite earrings & kimono. A feather mask that makes me look like a lion.

Shelves, matryoshka dolls, a friend’s artwork, color-coded books, and more dolls.

My very favorite tank top & a cut-up Hanes white tee. Someday maybe I’ll brush my hair.

What I wear when I stay at home: cotton t-shirt, Japanese souvenir kimono, & my only pair of jeans.

Today I drew a rather shoddy self-portrait. Actually, I like most of it, excepting the eyes & chin which are quite wonky. As I haven’t got a scanner, it looks a bit stretched out in the second photo.

I would have this as my bedroom in a heartbeat. I love the all-white, textured walls & mirror, as well as the use of plant life, color, & the herringbone pattern of the wood floors.

There’s no denying… this song gives me mad good energy. Is it weird that I love Eminem?

I went skiing for the first time today. I also made a new friend, slept on the floor of the lodge for two hours, and watched Auntie Mame. I call it a successful Sunday. And now I will sleep.
As much as I adore winter, this picture makes me long for the springtime.

This is my second day off school because of snowy & cold weather. Yesterday I mostly laid next to windows enjoying the wonderfully sunny skies while still keeping warm… & therefore, nothing really got done. Today, however, I think I’ll do a bit of cleaning & maybe even trek out to goodwill or the library if I feel up to facing the harsh winter winds. In any case, today is also the perfect time to practice taking pictures.

I have never seen a face so lovely in real life. I guess they are hiding them all in France. (photo garance dore)
Yesterday, in the approximately 20 minutes that I did not spend lying in the sun, I ventured down into my basement to see what lost clothes I could scrounge up (the organizational system down there is very lacking.) It was surprisingly productive; I found two blazers, a sweater, and a dress which used to belong to my mother, and I also found many clothes of mine that I haven’t seen for months, including my favorite navy blue coat. Thrills.
